Jessie, the founder of Bendichas Manos, didn’t care for chocolate, had little interest in cacao, and wasn’t nearly as engaged in her own spiritual roots as she is now. She certainly wasn’t looking to start a business. And yet, years later, we are pouring love into cups from a deep well of connection, with reverence for cacao as a sacred fruit that helps us ground, center, and expand. Knowing so well it’s divinely given gifts, we are dedicated to sharing it in a way that honors cacao and our origins, nourishes the body, mind, and soul, and supports our vessels in receiving our deepest prayers.
That resistance culminated in a moment of surrender (and the literal collapse of her ceiling). At the time, she was struggling with Crohn’s disease and realized that to receive the prayers and blessings meant for her, she needed to both strengthen and soften her heart, ground her energy, and nourish her physical body.
Cacao became a profound ally on this path, helping her regulate her nervous system, ground, center, and expand. More than physical nourishment and supporting her energy, she had no idea how much it would support her emotionally and spiritually. Over time, her practice became foundational in her healing, continual insights, self-acceptance, love, and deeper connection with herself, the Divine, her beloved, and in all her relationships- in ways that weren’t based in someone else’s culture, roots, or Instagram spirituality, but instead embodied and authentic to her.
She believes that a steady cacao practice—one tailored to fit your unique prayer, intention, and rhythm—is not just complementary but essential for "heart hygiene," much like bathing or brushing your teeth to cleanse the body.
The name honors both my Ashkenazi and Sephardic lineages but comes from my Sephardic line from Izmir, Turkey (Tire)-- connecting with these lineages have been a tremendous part of my journey. And truly, this journey with cacao has been one of deep listening, allowing myself to attune to the subtle energetic shifts that create tangible life changes. This belief guides everything I do—from where and how we source our cacao, to the specific adaptogens in our blend, the dosing I recommend, and the experiences I offer to support you in creating your own cacao practice that support your life.
